Kindness needs courage too

Being good does not mean being weak. Loving peace does not mean tolerating injustice. That was the thought behind my post about angels carrying swords rather than flowers.

I wrote about mercy and forgiveness, but also about the moments when we need to take a stand, defend the truth and confront wrongdoing. For me, kindness without courage is often not enough.

The biblical imagery

The post referred to two passages. Genesis 3:24 describes cherubim and a fiery sword guarding the way to the tree of life. Numbers 22:31 describes Balaam seeing the angel of the Lord with a drawn sword.

These are references to what the biblical texts depict. The connection I drew between that imagery and moral courage is my personal reflection. The image accompanying the post is an AI-generated illustration, not a historical document.

I ended with a prayer: may God give us the wisdom to distinguish good from evil, and the courage to act rightly.
