People asked why I had shared a feminist group’s call to protest. My answer begins with the value I put first: family. A family should be a place of love, respect and support. Violence has no place in it.
In my October 27 video, I explained that supporting women’s safety and equal rights does not require agreeing with every idea associated with a movement. I can disagree with ideas I consider harmful to family life and still support a protest demanding that women be protected. Those positions belong together.
A partner is not a possession
The behaviour I criticised was the belief that a husband owns his wife or can treat her however he wants. He does not. Women deserve dignity in their homes, in public and in their relationships. Defending the family cannot mean defending the person who makes home unsafe.
I also spoke about the lack of support women can encounter in their surroundings. My concern was that someone facing violence can feel they have nowhere to turn. A discussion about labels should not drown out that need for safety and support.
The call I shared
My post supported the protest announced for October 28, 2026, at 16:00 in Zahir Pajaziti Square, Prishtina. The announcement called for killings of women to be treated as a national emergency. These are the details of the call I shared on October 27, rather than a continuously updated event notice.
My position is clear: protecting women and protecting the family go together. The people closest to us should find respect and safety with us.
