A new Albanian awakening starts with knowledge and unity

“The time has come for a new national awakening.” That is the call I shared in my latest post. I called it a “National Awakening 2.0”: a call to come together, become more aware and put our shared Albanian interests above personal advantage, party loyalty and religious division.

My point begins with belonging. Before a party, an ideology or a religious affiliation becomes a reason to turn against another Albanian, we should remember what we share. Our language, culture, history and future deserve our attention together.

Knowledge belongs beside courage

In the post, I named four things we need: knowledge, unity, courage and love for our homeland. Knowledge belongs in that list. A call to protect our history also asks something of us: to learn it. My recent reading of Sami Frashëri is part of that same conversation about language, faith and belonging.

I also called on the spirit of Gjergj Kastrioti–Skanderbeg as an image of courage and renewed determination. That is an appeal to a historical symbol, not a claim that our circumstances are the same as his.

Put our shared future first

I am frustrated by divisions that turn people against one another. My appeal is to bring our forces together in defence of our language, culture, homeland and future. I want that shared purpose to matter more than the loyalties that separate us.

This is a statement of what I want for us, not a report proving accusations against particular people or groups. At its centre is the conviction I expressed in the post: only together can we raise our nation to the place we believe it can reach.
