The lessons from The Alchemist that stayed with me concern dreams, the heart and action. Reading them together also brings me back to connecting the dots between what we hope for and what we learn along the way. These notes are prompts for reflection. However, an inspiring story does not decide which action fits your own situation.
Lessons from The Alchemist
I take these life lessons from The Alchemist into the way I think about work and life.
𝐃𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 – You are capable, at any time in your life, of doing what you dream of – and the possibility of having your dream come true is what makes life interesting.
𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩 – When you really deeply want something and work for it – – all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.
𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 – You will never be able to escape from your heart. So it’s better to listen to what it has to say.
Dreams, action and what the journey teaches
𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 – The only way to learn is through action.
𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 – When you are a child, you know what your Personal Legend is and what your dream is. Everything is clear and everything is possible. You are not afraid to dream and yearn for everything you would like to see happen to you in your life. When you grow up, there is still a treasure that awaits you.
𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 – When you strive to become better than you are, everything around you becomes better, too.
𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬 – Before your dream is realized, you’ll be tested by everything that was learned along the way. So, in addition to realizing your dreams, you master the lessons you’ve learned as you’ve moved toward that dream. 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐮𝐩.
