A comment about alleged damage to a monument of Gjergj Fishta prompted my response. The commenter attributed it to particular groups of protesters. I challenged that attribution: what evidence established who had done it?
In my recording, I also spoke about attending the protests myself and experiencing peaceful participation. That is my account of what I saw, not a complete record of every incident or everyone present.
Two questions that should stay separate
Who caused damage is one question. Whether people have legitimate reasons to protest is another. Even if individual protesters were responsible for vandalism, their actions would not automatically represent everyone taking part or invalidate every demand.
That was the central point of my caption: the actions of a few individuals do not represent an entire people. Condemning damage and listening to peaceful protesters are compatible.
What this article does not establish
The material reviewed here does not establish the perpetrators or their motives. My original response also raised possible provocations. Those suggestions are not treated here as verified explanations. Assigning responsibility requires evidence, including when an explanation fits our own political views.
Source note: adapted from my Albanian recording and caption. Unsupported allegations about government involvement, foreign agents and funding have been omitted. The image is a frame from that recording.
