In my 20 September post about Skanderbeg’s identity, I brought together names, titles and quotations to defend his place in Albanian history. One line attributed an expanded reading of the helmet’s inscription to “History / Vienna Museum”. That attribution needs correcting.
The specific correction
I had used the longer Latin interpretation from my earlier photograph as if it were the museum’s documented wording. I should have linked the source and distinguished the inscription from the expansion. The revised inscription article now does that.
The original social post also referred to the League of Lezhë, allies, opponents, a pope and Skanderbeg’s own words. Those are separate historical claims. Repeating them together does not supply the original documents, dates or context needed to verify each quotation. I am not reproducing them here as established evidence.
What remains personal
My concern in that post was how Albanian history is represented. The visit in Vienna mattered to me, and I wanted to share that connection. The feeling is mine; a historical quotation still needs a traceable source.
This correction addresses my use of the museum reference. It does not turn the helmet into a test that can settle every question about identity. If you shared the earlier wording, share the correction with it so readers can see what changed.
