Dealing with hostile comments starts with deciding which responses deserve your attention.

When you start creating online, hostile comments can turn up too. In this post, my response was direct: block, ignore and keep going. You do not have to give every person who dislikes your work a place in your day.

That boundary is worth keeping separate from a refusal to hear feedback. A difficult question and a personal insult ask different things of you.

Dealing with hostile comments while staying open to feedback

Read the substance before deciding to reply. Is someone pointing to an error, asking for clarification or explaining a different experience? There may be something worth answering or learning from, even if the wording is uncomfortable.

If the comment is only there to insult you or keep demanding your attention, you can leave it unanswered. You can use the platform’s moderation tools without turning the decision into another public argument.

Return to the work you meant to do

Choose how much of your time you want to spend in replies. Then return to the idea, story or project you came to share. The loudest response does not have to become the subject of your next post.

You can correct yourself when there is a reason, thank someone for a useful challenge and still set a firm boundary elsewhere. Keeping going does not require being unaffected by every reaction. It requires deciding which reactions deserve a part in your work.
