Do not regret the love you gave, but leave room to learn from the experience.

Do not regret the love you gave. In this photo post, I express a belief that love can return through another person, another moment or different circumstances. It is a hopeful way of looking at life, not a promise of repayment from a particular relationship.

When something ends badly, it can be tempting to judge every caring moment by the ending. But an ending does not have to turn your capacity for love into a mistake.

Do not regret the love you gave or ignore your limits

You can value the care you offered while being honest about what happened. What did you give freely? What did you need but leave unsaid? Was the relationship making room for both people, or were you repeatedly ignoring your own limits?

These questions help separate generosity from a pattern you do not want to repeat. You do not have to become colder to become clearer.

Love is not a reason to stay available forever

Not regretting your love does not mean continuing a relationship that you want to leave. You can stop giving someone access to your time, attention or intimacy and still acknowledge that your feelings were real.

Nor does it mean keeping a ledger of what another person owes you. Let the care you gave tell you something about what you value. Let the experience teach you something about how you choose and communicate. Carry both into the next chapter: the ability to care and the willingness to care for yourself too.
