The question behind an CHF 8,000 salary

Someone asked whether CHF 8,000 a month is enough for a good life in Switzerland. In the video, I answered from my own experience: I considered it a good income, particularly for someone living alone.

That was a personal judgement. It was not a calculation for every household, and the question did not specify gross or net pay. Family responsibilities and living arrangements change what the same number means.

For me, the more personal part of the conversation was what a salary made possible. During the early period of my business, employment income helped me support the work I was building alongside it.

So I remember that income as more than a lifestyle question. It gave me room to try something. The useful question is what your own circumstances allow you to do with the income available to you, rather than treating one monthly figure as a universal definition of success.
