Walking among the Arbëreshë made me think about the contributions people with Albanian roots have made beyond Albania. In the video, I spoke about Italy and about what we might achieve through stronger connections with each other.

One documented example is Francesco Crispi. The Italian presidency’s account identifies his Arbëreshë background, his participation in Garibaldi’s Expedition of the Thousand and his later service as prime minister. The presidency’s account of Arbëreshë history.

That example supports a specific contribution. It should not become a claim that one community alone created a country, or an endorsement of everything a historical figure did.

The thought I wanted to share was about cooperation today. If people can contribute skills, leadership and energy wherever they live, there is value in bringing those connections closer together. Visiting the Arbëreshë made that possibility feel personal.
