If I would start all over again, I would have been very happy to know what I know now, so that’s why I want to give you my 6 golden rules to getting more success for your business. Let’s talk first about the time it takes to achieve something. I don’t want to give you the same 0815-tipps / standard advice, but, yes, it’s true: You need patience.
Nothing happens overnight. Luck has nothing to do with it. What do Kim Dotcom, Jordan Belfort (Wolf of Wall Street), Elon Musk and other self-made millionairs and billionairs have in common? They went from zero to very rich, to 0 again, and now they are very rich again. Why? They know how to do it, it’s not a coincidence, it’s a system, and if you don’t know how to do it, you’ll never become a successfull entrepreneur, you’ll never be in the club.
There are my 6 golden rules you need to know about starting your business / startup, I had to learn the hard way. Let’s be honest, you’ll fail anyway, most of us do, but that’s okay, because it’s part of the process.
You have to have skills. You need to learn. You need to gain new skills and never stop learning. It doesn’t matter what you do, you have to love it, otherwise you will fail as you will stop learning, you will stop gaining new skills. Don’t try to do something you don’t like, just to make money, this way you’ll hate your work and you’ll make no money at all. Find your passion, and make a business around it.
You have to put in a ton of work. You have not only to believe in your idea, but you have to work for it. That’s the point where most people fail. They don’t work hard enough.
It takes tons and tons of work. It takes some dumb luck, but it takes a lot time to invest in work, I’m talking about 15–16 hours a day, working from monday-sunday, for years — huh? But it is a huge privilege to do what you love every day.
You have to understand that things are changing very fast, so now we have also another important factor, which is speed of adoption within a new situation.
That means, there are new situations, new status quo and the question is how fast do you react, how fast do you recognize these changes. And how fast can you use the changes to bring yourself and your business to the next level.
Every four days there is a new multibillion startup starting like facebook, twitter, uber and co. — so check every opportunity and use the chances, before someone else does.
What do you think is the most important thing that keeps a company alive?
You guessed it: money.
If the money is not properly flowing in your company, then your business will not grow and it will not bring more money. Bankruptcy is one of the most common reasons why most businesses fail.
The proper handling of money is one of the most important bases for a successful money-making enterprise. So if you start a business, to get rich, then you have already to know how to deal with money. Bookkeeping, finances, product-pricing, investments, savings, … you need to manage the money the right way, or it will be the reason you’ll fail. A lot of business owners think that every Euro they get, it’s their money, but that’s totally wrong, as you have to have money for taxes, for bad times, for investments, for anything you could not think of.
Bad handling of money is the first reason why many entrepreneurs never will be successfull.
First things first and second things……. never!
With only 19 years I started and failed my first business with some friends, it was a webdesign agency called ‘pooq’. It was a great experience, but what followed was one business idea after the next. Over 10 of my ideas went real, I started real businesses, but most of them failed. All that within 4 years. Why? Because of time. You can’t focus on several totally different businesses at the same time. If your first business is running great and you have great people managing it, of course you can start with your next idea, but not at the same time.
I had really to learn it the hard way. Now I am focusing only on my main business, which is a SEO & Webdesign agency called MIK, based in Switzerland and Kosovo. All other businesses, I’ve invested, are managed by other people, otherwise it would not work well.
What is the best part about starting a business today?
Technology.
Because of that smartphone that I know is somewhere near you right this moment, you have so many more opportunities open to you.
That smartphone, the apps in it, the power of social media, changed everything. And it can change things for you too. Use it to create something for yourself. Please.
Instead of watching TV tonight, I want you to make something for yourself. Go make something awesome. You owe it to yourself, and more importantly, you deserve it.
I think you need to find a way things work for you. Listening to some Gurus in youtube and following them on facebook is okay, it will give you some motivation, but theywon’t change your life.
Not at all.
I think people ask successful entrepreneurs questions like “What does a day look like for you?” because they think they might hold some secret to success.
Some wisdom that will change everything.
We don’t. We don’t have a special thing, this secret doesn’t exist.
The only advice I can give you is think about yourself and figure out what makes you work the hardest. And when you know it, do it, work hard, put in the work and don’t quit.
Create the future you want, and take the next move to make it happen…!
