In Munich, I shared a short post about Einstein’s childhood and youth. The caption gave the years 1889–1894 for the house I was showing. That starting date needs correcting.

The chronology in The Collected Papers of Albert Einstein records the family at Rengerweg 14, later Adlzreiterstrasse, on 31 March 1885. It records Einstein leaving his Munich school for Milan in December 1894. Princeton’s chronology, pages 176–177.

The useful distinction is between Einstein’s wider years in Munich and the dates attached to a particular address. This note does not establish that the building shown today is the original house.

I wanted to share a place connected with someone whose name we all recognise. Adding the source makes the small travel discovery more useful and keeps an incorrect date from travelling further with it.
