What building a whole product teaches you

One of the best things about building a product from beginning to end is discovering how much happens outside the part you already understand. With Be The One, that has meant moving between branding, design, marketing, development and infrastructure.

A problem can look like one thing and turn out to be another. In the video, I described investigating performance and discovering that capacity was part of the issue. It was a reminder that what a user experiences depends on more than what appears on the screen.

Testing with people and following up on errors make those connections visible. A product is not finished just because its first version runs. You have to notice what goes wrong, understand it and improve the experience.

Building this way has also increased my respect for specialists. Trying different parts of the work does not make you an expert in all of them. It helps you understand the questions, recognise where you need help and collaborate with the people who know that area better.
