How my IT job helped finance my first business

Back at the airport in Zurich, I remembered the period when I worked in IT while building my agency. My salary gave me room to keep the business moving when its own money became tight.

There was a team in Kosovo to support and work that still had to be delivered. The job and the agency were part of the same reality: one helped finance the other. My employer knew about the business. After my working day, I continued with the agency.

That arrangement gave me a way forward, but it came with exhaustion. I do not want to tell the story as though working all the time is the goal. The pressure was real, and so was the cost of trying to carry both responsibilities.

When someone asks whether a regular job can help fund a startup, my answer comes from that experience. It helped me. Leaving a job is not the only possible beginning. Sometimes the first step is building carefully alongside it, while being honest about your commitments and your limits.
